Excellent is not a good enough description because it does not capture how wonderful Cardenas Music School is! My son’s Progression with reading music & classical guitar took off after starting classes with Mr. Cardenas.

I asked my son what was so different about Mr. Cardenas over his last teacher & he said, “He just gets it mom - he knows how to explain things in a way that it all connects for me”. Now my son loves to practice & looks forward to his lessons each week - cannot recommend Cardenas Music School more highly!

Aaron Cardenas is the best guitar teacher you could ask for! He asks what I want to learn and teaches useful skills need such as practicing techniques, warmups, etc. I have only been learning from him for a couple of months and I am able to play musical pieces I never thought I could play.

Cardenas Music School is fabulous! If you want to learn how to play guitar in Honolulu, this is the place to go.

My daughter and I have taken voice lessons from Marissa at the Cardenas Music School. It was a personal dream of mine to take voice lessons to work on my singing and it was a delight that my daughter could also participate. After only a few lessons, I could sense the improvement of my voice. Marissa made the lessons fun and easy to follow for my daughter. Singing in front of others can feel intimidating and vulnerable but it was such a welcoming space that made us feel comfortable to be ourselves. Aaron is not inly talented but a caring, patient teacher! For my five year old, he was able to pass on his enthusiasm towards music through ukulele, and I’m really grateful.

Mr. Aaron Cardenas is the best guitar teacher we found for our son almost three years ago. We were trying to find a classical guitarist in Honolulu. There were several guitar teachers, but we could not find any teacher who had expertise in classical guitar performance. It took us half a year to find Mr. Cardenas who had just come back from mainland. We were impressed by his accomplishment in academy as well as performance. Our son was 7 years old and did not even know how to read music. But he really enjoyed the guitar lessons and quickly progressed. Mr. Cardenas has a gentle heart and is great in teaching kids. He teaches how to practice difficult pieces based on his own experience, patiently correcting our son’s bad habits in the right and left hands. He always encourages our son to make each piece of music special and unique with his own expressions. We are fortunate Mr. Cardenas has been teaching our son. We can recommend him to anyone who seeks a good classical guitar teacher.

Working with Aaron really changed things for my guitar playing. He has a wealth of knowledge on technique, ergonomics, and good study habits, and he has a way of breaking things down to make even the most challenging tasks seem manageable and fun. Mr. Cardenas shows excellent skills at classical guitar and experience working in various other genres of music. As an educator, he expresses great interest in helping people within the Hawai’i community learn about the world of classical guitar through free concerts as well as contributing music in the “Hawaiian Classical Guitar” genre.

Having praticipated in orchestra and wind band and having taken private lessons for both, I can confidently say that Aaron is the best private lessons teacher I have ever worked with. He is super knowledgeable on the guitar and can very easily spot and remedy issues. He wastes no time at all during lessons and you are constantly learning new ways to improve.

In my first lessons with Aaron, he assessed right away how much experience I already had with the guitar, knowing that he needn't teach me me notes because I already knew them. What he taught me was how to relax, what sort of mind set to use, how to practice to most efficiently learn my music. I took copious notes so I could remember those"tricks." Best of all, he introduced me to the most beautiful music and honored me with his confidence that I could play it. I felt like I was a part of a real tradition of Classical Guitarists. I can say now that I am a bona fide "Musician". Aaron is patient, kind, and has a great sense of humor. I would recommend him to anyone.

Aaron is a beast in the gym but even more of an ABSOLUTE UNIT in classical guitar’s! You’re definitely investing in the right man. Also, he has a corny sense of humor which will make learning fun!
